What is the Shell Helix Engine Warranty?
It is a warranty provided by Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn. Bhd. for your vehicle up until 12 years, or 200,000km, from the date your vehicle is manufactured (whichever occurs first), when you use Shell Helix Ultra, Shell Helix HX7 engine oil or Shell Helix High Mileage. The warranty covers any lubricant-caused engine failure, which covers repair of 15 major engine components affected
How do I know if my vehicle is eligible for this programme?
Your vehicle is eligible for the Shell Helix Engine Warranty if:
You are using Shell Helix Ultra, Shell Helix HX7 engine oil or Shell Helix High Mileage
Your car is under 8 years old
Your car has done less than 150,000 kms
Purchase and use a 4-litre pack of Shell Helix Ultra, Shell Helix HX7 or Shell Helix High Mileage to register.
The OEM/Car manufacturer recommends using engine oil with viscosity of Shell Helix products that are included in the SHEW program.
How do I know I have been successfully registered for the Shell Helix Engine Warranty?
Upon successful registration into the Shell Helix Engine Warranty programme, you will receive a confirmation SMS from Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn. Bhd.
What if I have not received my confirmation SMS?
Your workshop has 7 days from the date of your oil change to register your warranty. If you do not receive a confirmation SMS by the 11th day, please call our Shell Helix Engine Warranty hotline at 1800 1818 55.
If you purchased your oil from a Shell Retail Station, you have 60 days to register your warranty. Please ensure you have completed your oil change within this time and completed your details online.
Do I have to pay for this extended engine warranty?
How do I enrol for this programme?
Simply perform an oil change using Shell Helix Ultra, Shell Helix HX7 engine oil or Shell Helix High Mileage at your authorised Shell Helix Engine Warranty workshop, and your mechanic will sign you up.
Alternatively, purchase Shell Helix Ultra, Shell Helix HX7 or Shell Helix High Mileage at any Shell retail station and self-register online.
What should I do in the event that my car breaks down?
Call the Shell Helix Engine Warranty hotline at 1800 1818 55 who will assist you on next steps.
The associated costs of towing the vehicle to the nearest panel workshop will be borne by you, and is reimbursable if it is determined to be a valid claim under this programme.
What does the warranty cover?
The engine parts listed below are covered under the Shell Helix Engine Warranty programme:
- Piston and piston rings
- Crankshaft and bearings
- Connecting rods
- Connecting rod bearings
- Gudgeon pin
- Engine block
- Cylinder head
- Timing gear and chains
- Camshaft and bearings
- Cylinder liner / bore
- Cam followers
- Rocker arm and pivot
- Push rods and balance shaft
up to a maximum of RM15,000 (inclusive of applicable taxes) per claim in the case of Shell Helix Ultra users, and up to a maximum of RM8,000 (inclusive of applicable taxes) per claim in the case of Shell Helix HX7 and Shell Helix High Mileage (“SHEW’s Maximum Coverage”).
Making a claim
When am I eligible to make a claim?
You can only make a claim 30 days AND 1,000 km after you received your SMS confirmation.
What should I do in the event that I wish to make a claim?
If you wish to make a claim, please call the Shell Helix Engine Warranty hotline at 1800 1818 55 before you make any engine repairs, and provide vehicle documentation including oil change records, service receipts and a copy of your vehicle registration card.
Is there a limit on the number of claims a vehicle can make?
Payment of claims is limited to one claim per 6 month period per vehicle.
